Pools and Spa at Novotel Malta Sliema: What’s Included
“Wellness facilities” covers a lot of ground on a hotel website, and it isn’t always clear what’s actually included. At Novotel Malta Sliema, the offering breaks down into three distinct spaces: a rooftop infinity pool, an indoor pool inside the spa, and Carisma Spa & Wellness itself, with its own thermal area and treatment menu. Here’s what each one actually involves.
Two Pools, Two Different Moods
On Level 14, Soleil Skydeck & Pool is the hotel’s rooftop infinity pool, open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 (worth reconfirming seasonally, as hours can shift outside peak summer months). It comes with a swim-up bar, so drinks and light bites are ordered straight from the water, and panoramic views stretch across Sliema, Ta’ Xbiex and Valletta. It’s the more social of the two pools, built for an afternoon rather than a quiet lap swim. For a closer look at the rooftop experience itself, we covered it in more depth in an earlier post.
The second pool sits inside the spa on Level 2: a smaller, indoor pool intended as a calmer counterpart to the rooftop, open to all ages rather than restricted to the spa’s 16+ thermal area. That split matters in practice. Families travelling with younger children have a pool option even outside the adults-only thermal area, while guests booking a spa session get a quieter space than the rooftop’s swim-up-bar atmosphere. Exact access arrangements, whether it’s included with any room booking or tied to a spa visit, aren’t specified on the hotel’s own pages, so it’s worth confirming at check-in or when booking a spa slot.
Carisma Spa & Wellness: What’s Actually There
Carisma Spa & Wellness is on Level 2 and open daily from 9am to 7pm. The thermal area covers a sauna, a steam room, a salt and relax room, and a shock shower bucket for a cold finish after the heat. Access to this area is restricted to guests aged 16 and over, so it isn’t a facility to plan around with younger children.
Beyond the thermal area, the spa runs a full treatment menu: massages (deep tissue, aromatherapy and relaxation styles), facials, body treatments, and half or full-day spa packages. Robes, slippers and towels are provided, and the hotel recommends booking ahead and arriving 15 minutes early, with at least six hours’ notice for any cancellation.
Couples get a dedicated menu, priced from a 30-minute Short & Sweet package with a 3-hour spa pass and prosecco or tea at €119, up to a 180-minute Romantic Deluxe package with a full-body massage and facials at €499. In between sit the Just For You (€199, 55 minutes), Couple’s Escape (€275, 85 minutes) and Ultimate Couple’s Bliss (€349, 110 minutes) packages, each adding more treatment time and extras. For the full menu and current pricing, Carisma Spa’s own site is the most up-to-date source.
The Fitness Centre, For a Straightforward Workout
Alongside the pools and spa, the hotel’s Fitness Centre covers the more routine end of a stay, useful for anyone keeping up a training schedule while travelling. Exact opening hours and equipment are listed on the fitness centre page.
